What to Expect when you first contact us

When you first call our office you will be greeted by our reception and asked if you have seen one of our doctors before. If you haven’t then our staff will setup your information in our system and begin the booking process. We also ask to have a credit card on file, this is to reserve your appointment similar to reserving a hotel room. We do not process your credit card unless you breech our cancellation policy. As we often have a waiting list of patients who want to get in to see us, we require 24 hour cancellation notice if you can’t make it to your appointment so we can give that appointment to someone else.

Our staff will then book your first appointment. It is a 1 hour appointment. We ask that you then go online and fill in our intake forms. That allows our doctor enough time to review your information and prepare for your appointment.

What to Expect on first visit

When you first arrive at our clinic you will be greeted by our staff and then have a seat in our waiting area. We do ask that you show up at least 15 minutes early to allow for traffic and parking to find our office.

At your appointment time your doctor will come out and meet you then take you in to the consultation office. The doctor will then take your health history and start looking for the causes to your health problems. We will ask a lot of questions about your health, your life, and what is going on overall with you. We start with asking about when your problems started and what was going on when the did. Then we dig deeper, asking questions about what makes it worse, better and anything else that might be a clue on the causes of your problems.

If you have any recent lab tests or reports we ask that you bring them so we can review them with you. This helps reduce costs and duplication of testing.

At the end of the consultation the doctor will then go over with you what possible causes there are to your health problems and any testing that may be helpful. We will then go over your treatment options and implement a treatment protocol that works for you. We discuss expectations and timelines when appropriate, as well as
long term health goals and our plans for improving your overall health and preventing diseases.

Overall the first appointment is about finding the cause of your health problems, looking at your goals and coming up with a plan that works for you. We not only want to work on the cause of your current problems, but also implement a long term plan that helps your overall health and prevent you from developing more health problems.

What to Expect on follow up visits

We normally see our patients for their second visit about a moth after their first visit. During follow up visits we see how well the treatment plan is working and evaluate your overall progress. At that point we may make adjustments to the treatment plan and go to the next step of the long term overall treatment plan.

We will usually see our patients monthly for the first few visits, then as the main health problems come under control we see our patients less often. From then on we adjust the treatment plan to work on the overall health and prevention goals. It is difficult to predict how often we will see our patients as everyone’s health conditions and goals are different.

What are the costs?

Does Green Apple Health Care offer direct billing to my insurance?

Green Apple Health Care can direct bill to over 10 major insurers. Please bring your insurance card and information with you to your appointment.  We can then determine if we can bill your insurance company directly. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Are Naturopathic Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine covered by private insurance?

Most private insurance companies will cover consultations with our doctors. You can check directly with your policy provider to find out how much coverage you have. Some treatments may be covered including acupuncture. Laboratory testing is not usually covered by private insurance, but you can check with your provider.

Is Green Apple Health Care a “scent-free” office?

Yes! Due to the impact scented personal care products have on the health of others, we ask our clients to refrain from using any scented products during their visits.

What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic Doctors have a minimum of seven years post-secondary education, including a Bachelor of Science and a four-year Naturopathic medical degree. Naturopathic Doctors are primary care practitioners, treating a wide variety of health conditions from colds and flus to the most advanced chronic conditions.

Naturopathic Medicine combines modern scientific knowledge with traditional natural forms of healing. Naturopathic Doctors treat the causes of health problems, rather than the symptoms, using natural alternatives to medication. By emphasizing the body’s natural self-healing process, a Naturopathic Doctor works with their patient to find the most appropriate treatment to restore and maintain optimum health.

Naturopathic Doctors work with other health care providers to create a fully-integrated, patient-centered model of health for maximum treatment efficiency and effectiveness for the patient.
